CTE Introduction
CTE Introduction is Utah’s exploratory Career and Technical Education Core Curriculum requirement for middle/junior high school 7th grade students.
 
The purpose of this program is to allow students to be involved in an activity-centered lessons, which utilize technology, develop beginning skills and explore careers in the following areas:

  • Agriculture  
  • Business  
  • Family and Consumer Science  
  • Health Science  
  • Information Technology  
  • Marketing  
  • Personal Finance/Economics  
  • Technology & Engineering

  

                                                                                                                           


Three major concepts are integrated throughout the program:
-Self-Knowledge
-Assessing individual interests and abilities
-Understanding their future rule as a worker and family member, and
-Becoming aware of those life skills necessary to be a contributing member of society.
-Education and Occupation Exploration
-Exploring the nature of work and the changing world of work,
-Exploring nontraditional as well as traditional roles,
-Experiencing broad exposure to technologies and processes found in the workplace, and
-Examining high-growth and emerging occupations.

Career Planning
Understanding the importance of education and occupational decision making,
Examining education and training necessary and available for various careers, and
Planning their future through Student Education Occupation Plan (S.E.O.P.) process, that is developed in cooperation with parents, counselors, and educators.
